Laser classification

WHITEPAPER:
All laser devices have to be classified according to their risk to the human eye. The FARO® Laser Scanner LS is classified as 3R. To enable the user to evaluate the actual risk, the software to control the scanner shows the actual valid eye-safety distance. This depends on the resolution settings chosen by the user. Other laser scanner vendors do not supply this information to their users. To provide a sufficient understanding of the meaning of the different laser classes, this document collides some general information, valid for all kind of laser devices.
