Preserving U.S. history one laser point at a time

The iconic Octagon in Washington D.C., a 220-year-old three-story brick structure serves as the headquarters of the Architects Foundation, the philanthropic arm of the American Institute of Architects. To keep the Octagon operating in top condition, the AIA has assembled an elite team of skilled investigators, using state-of-the-art technology such as laser scanning, to capture as-built conditions of this historic structure and create an accurate permanent record that can be consulted any time the building needs repairs.
