Speed test: how much faster is the ScanArm with an 8-Axis?

June 11, 2019

8-Axis scanning is revolutionizing object scanning speeds with a Portable Measurement Arm, and with no loss in accuracy or detail. FARO® conducted a side-by side test of scanning a car door both with 8-Axis and without 8-Axis.

The result? An up 40% time savings in the scanning process.

In reality when integrated into a true inspection or reverse engineering process, the total time savings would be even greater. Using the 8-Axis table, the scanning can all be done in one point cloud. Without 8-Axis, a user would need to register multiple point clouds together (not shown in video) via post processing in point cloud software.
