FARO ScanArm provides critical non-contact scanning for modeling

August 2, 2008

CASE STUDY:
The marble statue of St. Michael the Archangel at St. Michael’s Hospital in Toronto has been recognized and loved as an inspirational symbol of hope and healing. In the fall of 2005, the hospital’s foundation decided to give miniature crystal representations of the statue to thank its donors.

The challenge in the St. Michael project was creating the 3D scan. To overcome these restraints, they turned to the FARO® ScanArm, which was the only option they found that met all their needs - ability to set up on-site, portability to move around the statue, ease-of-use, speed in scanning and being able to scan in restricted access areas without contact.
