A critical part of the process is the FARO ScanArm, used to scan the engine bay thus providing a 3D model for use during the design process by providing an accurate model to indicate available space as well as helping create a 3D model of the prototype.

The ScanArm HD is FARO’s newest 3D Laser Scanner attachment for the FaroArm. When the ScanArm HD is attached to a FaroArm it combines all of the advantages of your hard probing system with the capabilities of 3D laser scanning to provide rapid point cloud collection in a fully integrated system known as the FARO Edge ScanArm HD.

The FARO Edge ScanArm HD is the ideal contact and non-contact measurement system for product development, inspection, and quality control and offers capabilities such as point cloud comparison with CAD, rapid prototyping, reverse engineering, and 3D modeling of free-form surfaces.
